Ink Station Tattoo follows all Michigan state laws and health department regulations regarding age and consent for body piercings.

  • You must be 18 years of age or older to receive a piercing. A valid, government-issued photo ID is required at the time of your appointment.

  • Minors (under 18) may only be pierced with a parent or legal guardian present. Both the minor and the parent/guardian must provide valid, matching government-issued IDs.

  • In cases of guardianship, legal paperwork proving guardianship must be presented.

  • The parent or guardian must remain in the studio for the entire appointment and must provide written consent before any piercing is performed.

Ink Station Tattoo reserves the right to decline service if proper identification or documentation is not provided. These policies ensure the safety, legality, and wellbeing of all clients.

1. How do I book an appointment?
You can contact us via message or phone, although message works best so we can collect reference pictures. We’ll schedule a consultation, discuss your idea, pick a date/time, and collect a deposit to secure the slot.

2. How much will my tattoo cost?
Pricing depends on the artist and size, style, complexity, placement, number of colors, and how many sessions it may take. We’ll give you an estimate during the consultation.

3. How long will my tattoo take?
This depends on the design and placement. Small pieces may take one session; larger or more detailed pieces may require multiple visits.

4. Does getting a tattoo hurt?
Yes, some discomfort is normal — how much depends on your pain tolerance and the area being tattooed. Certain spots (like ribs, feet, inner arm) tend to be more sensitive. Michigan codes prohibit the use of numbing cream before, during, or after your tattoo appointment. If you come in with numbing cream applied we will ask you to reschedule.

5. Can I bring a design or get a custom one?
Absolutely. You’re welcome to bring reference images or ideas. We have versatile artist that will work with you on the designs, Halloween-themed, pop-culture, etc.). We do our best to not copy someone else’s tattoo exactly—unless you say to keep it the same. We have five great artist each with their own style and specialty.

6. Is your studio sanitary and safe?
Yes. We follow all health-department regulations and use sterile, single-use needles and ink caps. Our workspace is cleaned and prepped before every session. We maintain health department standards with annual inspections and our own training throughout the year.

7. What about aftercare?
Aftercare is crucial. You’ll receive a sheet with instructions: keep the tattoo clean, moisturized, out of direct sun, and avoid soaking in water (pools, hot tubs) until healed. Good aftercare helps ensure your tattoo heals well and looks its best. In some cases we use second skin to bandage your fresh tattoo, your artist will go over aftercare with you after your tattoo is finished

8. Can I bring a friend/observer with me?
We typically allow one friend for support, but ask that extra guests don’t interfere with the process or compromise hygiene. If many people show up, we may ask them to wait in the lobby.

9. What if I’m sick, pregnant, or on medication?
If you’re under the weather, it’s best to reschedule. For pregnancy, Michigan health dept. regulations dictate we can not tattoo you if you are pregnancy or breast feeding after pregnancy

10. Will my tattoo fade or need touch-ups?
All tattoos may fade a bit over time (depending on sun exposure, skin changes, placement). We sometimes offer touch-up sessions—ask about our current policy during booking.

11. Do you cover up old tattoos or do laser removals?
Yes, we do cover-ups depending on the condition and design of the original tattoo. We do not perform laser removals here but can refer you to trusted specialists.

12. What is your cancellation/rescheduling policy?
We ask for a deposit to book your session. If you cancel or fail to show without sufficient notice, you may forfeit that deposit. If you need to reschedule, please contact us as soon as you know.

13. What should I wear/bring to my appointment?
Wear something comfortable that gives access to the area being tattooed. Bring any reference images, a valid ID, and payment method. Be well-rested, hydrated, and have eaten beforehand.

14. Can minors get tattooed?
We only tattoo clients who are 18 + (or the legal age here) with valid ID. Minors require parent/guardian consent and must be in attendance with the minor at the time of appointment. ID cars for the parent or legal guardian and a birth certificate must be brought in to prove the parent is a legal guardian. No exceptions This is also a rule by the Michigan health department

15. What styles do you specialize in?
We specialize in black and grey, color, realism, edgy, pop-culture-inspired, including Halloween-themed motifs, fine-line work, script, illustrative and custom pieces. If you have a particular style in mind, we’ll pair you with the right artist.
